Meet Amanda, founder of FORTY-FOUR WORDS.

Bookmaker. British-Ghanaian. Thinker.

FORTY-FOUR WORDS is Britain’s first Black-owned experimental publisher to specialise in handmade-to-order books and creative products. Led by Amanda Boachie, an artist-maker, FORTY-FOUR WORDS seeks to share the beauty of contemporary design and traditional craftsmanship through experimental word-based creations. All with a desire to reimagine the reading experience.

FORTY-FOUR WORDS is for lovers of the little things - such as brief encounters in life and small(er) collectable items. Our books are short(ish) and handmade-to-order. Our creative products are thought-provoking and help explore your creative and curious thinking. Our brand is intentional.

Browse the first collection of very-short books, SAY LESS, where writers explore facets of the vast human experience in 88-word writings.

“Forty-Four Words is the first Black-owned publishing house of its kind on British soil. Owning one of these books is owning a piece of history and Black Britain’s legacy. The first book, SAY LESS, is a hand-curated reading experience that feeds the mind in short bursts. Pay attention as each word counts.”
